We stayed at the Exelby Green Dragon for one night as a stopover between Inverness and Norfolk. Our King deluxe room was very clean and was lovely and cosy. It was furnished with some nice furniture and soft furnishings. We were amazed how quiet it was even with a bar full of customers below. The shower room was lovely and clean and the shower was hot. The staff were very friendly and helpful.

Chose this as a handy dog-friendly stop over for the night, just off the A1 and a couple of miles from Bedale, wish we could have stayed longer. A really lovely pub that is community owned and is was a very cosy place, decorated for Christmas. There was warm and welcoming service from the very friendly staff. The locals were great and kept us entertained with some very funny stories. We enjoyed the food and there was a really good range of local beers and other drinks. Our room was very spacious with nice decor. I loved the joke book! I would definitely come back here and explore more of the local area.

Smooth check-in with friendly staff. The pub was clean and well maintained. Evening menu suited our needs after a long day. Bedroom was clean and tidy. Local outside temperature was around 3 degrees so asked if the room temperature could be tweeked and it was. Breakfast was plentiful and hot. One fact we discovered was it was a "Community" owned pub! A great credit to the locals who have made it work!

From the first impressions to leaving after breakfast the next morning,we had a really good experience. All staff were really friendly, helpful and professional with a natural warmth. The selection of drinks went down very well! Both the evening meal and breakfast were spot on and we had a lovely room at a great offer price.Highly recommend - just wish we lived closer! Fantastic little find and how all places should be run.

The food ( we had lunch, evening meal and breakfast) was excellent throughput. Everything was good quality product and was cooked so well. The blt I had for lunch was the vest I've ever had, and the twice fried chips were out of this world! The room was very comfortable, cosy , clean and well equipped. Probably the best part of the stay, though, wre the staff. They were all friendly, helpful and made us feel really welcome throughout the stay. It's a place we will remember very fondly and will return to when we're in the area. Excellent all round and highly recommended!

Superb atmosphere. Lovely staff. Great food. Very tasty steak and ale pie. The chef is a top bloke. Comfy bed. Nice decor. Great location just off the a1 motorway in quaint little village of Exelby, but you don't feel as tho your near the motorway.

The room was spacious and comfortable, with a useful seating area which is very uncommon. Usually you find a relatively small room and end up watching TV sitting on the bed. This was very different - soacious and we’ll laid out. Evening meal and breakfast were both excellent, and the selection of beers was refreshing - rather than the usual choice of interchangeable “premium lagers” and Doom Bar, there was a fantastic range of beers of all sorts on tap, and in cans/bottles. Great to see.

I recently stayed at the Exelby Green Dragon but had to head out early for a meeting, so I missed the breakfast. Even though my visit was short, the place felt really welcoming and cosy. Everyone working there was super friendly, giving the whole place a relaxed, family vibe. I did get to try the dinner, and the homemade pie was brilliant – definitely a highlight. They’ve also got a great range of real ales, which I appreciated. If you’re looking for a laid-back spot with good food and drink, this is it. I’d definitely recommend it if you’re in the area.

Location is a small village not far away from Bedale, there is only the Pub in the village so if you need to have a shop then you will have to travel to next town. The pub is very cosy and staff very friendly. There is definitely a local pub feel to it and all the locals seem to use it. The room we had is on the small side but still very comfy with on suite shower and toilet. The pub food is very good and decent portions. The breakfast also is very good.
